Yellow Primrose

Natural History

Yellow Primrose is a member of the Evening Primrose Family. The plant grows to 6 inches in height and has dark green, finely haired leaves with deep lobes that grow to 6 inches in length. The plant typically grows in sandy or moist soil along roadsides and in pine forests at elevations between 5000 - 9500 feet.
 

The flower of the Yellow Primrose opens after dark and is a favorite of sphinx moths.

Yellow Primrose blooms between May - August and produces a bright yellow flower with 4 petals to 3.5 inches in width.
