Fremont's Pincushion (Chaenactis stevioides)

Natural History

Fremont's Pincushion is a member of the Sunflower Family. The grows to 16 inches in height and has green, linear leaves that grow to 3 inches in length. The plant typically grows in plains and mesas at elevations between 1000 - 3500 feet.
 

Fremont's Pincushion is also known as Morning Bride.

Fremont's Pincushion blooms between March - May and produces a dense pincushion-like flowerhead to 1 inch in width with clusters of white flowers.
