Common Fiddleneck

Natural History

Common Fiddleneck is a member of the Borage family. The erect, slender plant grows to between 8 - 32 inches in height and has hairy, green leaves which grow to 6 inches long and alternate along the stem of the plant. The plant grows in grassy and open places at elevations below 4000 feet.
 

Common Fiddleneck is considered an invasive weed.

Common Fiddleneck blooms between March and June and produces orange-yellow, flowers with five petals that grow in a cluster at the top of a coiled, fiddle-shaped flower spike.
