Red Columbine

Natural History

Red Columbine is a member of the Buttercup Family. It grows to about 1 foot in height and has olive green leaves which are divided into 3 leaflets to 1.5 inches in length. The plant typically grows in moist coniferous forests at elevations between 4000-10000 feet.
 

Red Columbine is also known as Barrel Columbine.

Red columbine typically blooms between May - October and produces red flowers with 5 petals with long backwards pointing spurs to 1.75 inches in length.
