Myrtle

Natural History

Myrtle is a member of the Dogbane family. It is a trailing evergreen with dark green, oval, evergreen leaves. It typically grows in shady, moist areas in forests. The plant blooms in March - July and produces a purple, 5 lobed flower to 2" in diameter.

Though the flowers are pretty, myrtle is considered a weed.
